Late July Organic Snacks Review

My Dear Friends,

I got a wonderful box in the mail today.  I opened the box and this was inside:

Late July Organic SnacksLate July is truly a company that is good for you and good for the world. Using only the finest organic ingredients in their products, they are "Good For All".

Late July has teamed up with the Jane Goodall Institute to launch a new line of really tasty cookies to raise awareness of endangered animals.  The cookies are available in two flavors - milk & white chocolate, and are a good source of whole grain and calcium, and made with real organic chocolate.  Each cookie also features one of 7 different endangered animals discussed in Dr. Goodall's book "Hope For Animals".

Late July wants to make a positive change in the world.  The profits support the JGI program, which includes efforts to save wild chimpanzees & partners with villages in Africa to promote sustainable livelihoods.  Roots & Shoots, the JGI's global environmental & humanitarian youth network is also helped.

The cookies are made using a blend of sustainably sourced organic cocoa & organic milk from small family owned dairy farms.  The suggested retail price is $3.99 per box.

The Milk Chocolate flavor is sandwiched between vanilla cookies made with whole grains & calcium.

The White Chocolate cookies are made with Madagascar vanilla, organic cocoa butter & organic milk, sandwiched between chocolate cookies which also are made with whole grain and calcium!

In addition, Late July also makes Classic Sandwich Cookies, Mini Sandwich Crackers (peanut butter or sharp cheddar) , and Classic Crackers, such as saltines and rich crackers.

The cookies and crackers are full of flavor and oh-so tasty.  I'm slightly embarrassed to say that I ate half the box of Milk Chocolate mini cookies while I was writing this review.  Perfect with a glass of milk!  I really love their packaging, and the fact that they are willing to help amazing causes with their products.  It's always wonderful to see people giving back!

Where To Buy:
 Get your hands on some great cookies and crackers by shopping here!

My Dear Friends,

Jane Aldridge from Sea of Shoes has my dream hair.  If only my hair could look like this, I'd be sooooo happy.

...Monday, Monday...

My Dear Friends,

It's been a long weekend, you guys.  It may sound silly, but cleaning house and doing an insane amount of laundry really takes a lot out of you!  I cleaned and cleaned and then cleaned some more, and in between cleaning - I did laundry.  Far from an exciting weekend!  I'm still tired, and wouldn't say no to a nap!  Did anyone do anything fun?

Random, I know...but how beautiful!

CSN Stores Giveaway COMING SOON!

My Dear Friends,

I am looking to get some end tables for my living room.  I have two friends that live down the street from me who have the cutest coffee table w/ two end tables set.  I am one of those people who really appreciates it when things match.  Especially furniture.  Don't get me wrong, it doesn't have to be a 100% match, but it needs to coordinate.

I've been checking out the selection at a site called All Coffee Tables, which is one of the 200+ stores in the CSN Stores family.

Here are some end table/coffee table sets that I'm thinking about:

Did I mention that I'm going to hold a giveaway soon for CSN Stores?  That's right!  One lucky Fashion In The Forest reader will win a $45 gift certificate for CSN Stores!  Keep your eyes peeled for when I announce the giveaway!

fool for cardigans.

My Dear Friends,

I have always loved cardigans.  I'm not going to lie, I am looking forward to seeing what fall fashions are going to come out soon.  I like cardigans because #1, they hide my arms, which I am not too proud of these days...and #2, they pull together an outfit.  Just like that.    I also love things in the "cardigan family", such as wraps & vests!  Can I get a "yay for fall"?!

Forever 21 has fall items starting at $5.50!  Their end of summer sale is up to 75% off.  Get some camis and tees to go under the great sweaters and cardigans you find!  Use code "SHIPFREE" for Free Shipping on orders over $75!

Dillard's clearance is an extra 40% off!  Dillard's can be expensive, so get it while it's on sale!

Today is the LAST DAY for 50% off clearance at Torrid! Code "AUGSEVENTEEN" gets you $15 off a $75 purchase, or code "BTDM710" for $10 off any purchase (you must sign up for DivaStyle to get the deal, but it's free to sign up & you get redeemable points for more discounts every time you shop!)

Use code "FALLFORIT" at Urban Outfitters for Free Shipping!  No minimum purchase!

The 75% off clearance sale at Victoria's Secret ends Sunday!  Why wait, shop now!

Who are you, really?

My Dear Friends,

I stumbled upon a personality quiz from Untypically Jia (and am apparently of the same personality type as she) and honestly, it's right on the money.  I know sometimes people, including myself, don't want to admit certain facets about themselves.  It's a hard lesson to learn when you're cast as "so-and-so personality", and they're actually right about it.

I am apparently an ISFJ (Introverted Sensing Feeling Judging).

Here are some qualities that several websites mention:

  • ISFJs constantly take in information about people and situations and store it away. This tremendous store of information is usually startlingly accurate. It would not be uncommon for the ISFJ to remember a particular facial expression or conversation in precise detail years after the event occured. (happens to me all the time)
  • More so than other types, ISFJs are extremely aware of their own internal feelings, as well as other people's feelings. Many ISFJs learn to express themselves, and find outlets for their powerful emotions. (like blogging?)
  • The ISFJ has a difficult time saying "no" when asked to do something, and may become over-burdened. In such cases, the ISFJ does not usually express their difficulties to others, because they intensely dislike conflict, and because they tend to place other people's needs over their own. (guilty as charged)
  • ISFJs need positive feedback from others. In the absence of positive feedback, or in the face of criticism, the ISFJ gets discouraged, and may even become depressed. When down on themselves or under great stress, the ISFJ begins to imagine all of the things that might go critically wrong in their life. They have strong feelings of inadequacy, and become convinced that "everything is all wrong", or "I can't do anything right". (this is the one that was painful to admit)
  • Disorderly situations and constantly changing rules can cause them undue stress. (word)
  • ISFJs are extremely warm and demonstrative within the family circle--and often possessive of their loved ones, as well. (mine!  :p )
  • ISFJs have a few, close friends. They are extremely loyal to these, and are ready to provide emotional and practical support at a moment's notice. (that's me)
  • Their intensity of feeling makes their intimate relationship their first priority in life. They seek monogamous, lifelong commitments, and can be depended upon to be faithful and loyal to their mates once they have made a commitment. (yep)
  • It's a common problem for ISFJ's to not express their feelings until pushed to some limit, after which they explode in anger and say things which they later feel they shouldn't have said. (my bad.)
  • Tend to spend a greater amount of their leisure time away from social gatherings and groups of people and instead focus on their own activities or those people closely connected to them. (me time)
  • ISFJs can become engrossed in TV reality shows with their personalities and storylines. (the only one i ever liked was "girls next door" - the original version)
Potential Careers for ISFJ:

* Interior Decorators
* Nurses / Physical Therapists
* Administrators and Managers
* Administrative Assistants
* Child Care / Early Childhood Development
* Social Work / Counselors
* Paralegals
* Clergy / Religious Workers
* Office Managers
* Shopkeepers
* Bookkeepers
* Home Economics
* Librarians
* Secretaries
* Dental Hygienists

Interestingly enough, I've tried on around eight of those above mentioned jobs before.   So....what's your personality type?

InventHelp Ergonomic Seat Cushion Review

My Dear Friends,

Intromark is a licensing and marketing company in the business of assisting companies, inventors, and entrepreneurs in their attempts to introduce and market new products and inventions; and is a sister company to America's largest inventor services company - InventHelp!

I was given an InventHelp Ergonomic Seat Cushion for review.  As some of you know, I have an office job.  I sit at a desk for 8+ hours a day, plus I am an avid blogger.  Being in the sitting position for so long can take a toll on your back, spine, legs, etc.

From their site:

"The Ergonomic Seat Cushion transfers pressure away from the pelvic bones to alleviate back pain and increase comfort while the user is seated. The product, featured on QVC, is an ergonomically-designed pad that is easily portable for use in the car, at the office or at home."

Additional features:
  • Sold in packs of one or two cushions
  • Constructed from foam with a Lycra cloth cover
  • Features parallel ridges to allow for ventilation
  • Typical lifespan is two and a half years with frequent usage
This seat cushion makes sitting in a chair for long hours much more comfortable.  I feel less tension in my lower back when I use it.  You could even use it while driving long distances, as it is lightweight and easily transportable.

BUY IT:

Construction

My Dear Friends,

Sorry for all the background madness lately.  I just can't find a background that is a good fit, one that I haven't gotten super tired of easily.  All blogs are a work in progress, I guess:)  Please be patient, bear with me....I'm trying things out!

CSN Stores - Paula Deen 12 pc. Cookware Set (in Blue) Review

My Dear Friends,

CSN Stores graciously let me pick an item to review.  They gave me a $50 gift card to use on whatever I wanted, and since I really needed some new cookware, I used it on that.  I ordered the Paula Deen Porcelain Nonstick 12 Piece Cookware Set in Blue.  Since the set was more expensive than the gift card, I paid for the remainder of the price myself.  Here are the specs:

12 Piece Set Includes:
  • One 1 Qt. saucepan with lid
  • One 2 Qt saucepan with lid
  • One 2.75 Qt. saute with lid
  • One 6 Qt. stock pot with lid
  • One 8" skillet
  • One 10" skillet
  • One slotted turner
  • One slotted spoon

Features:
  • 12 Piece set
  • Porcelain Nonstick Cookware collection
  • Blue color
  • Aluminum construction
  • Colorful speckled porcelain exterior will enhance every kitchen from contemporary to traditional
  • Attractive exterior is durable stain resistant and a breeze to clean
  • Interior of each pan is a high quality nonstick allowing food to slide off easily and ensuring a lifetime of easy cleanup
  • Dual riveted rubberized handles are designed to provide a comfortable secure grip
  • Stylish copper plated rings are attached for hanging convenience
  • Copper plated knobs add a punch of color and sophistication to spice up your kitchen
  • Tempered glass lids lock in flavors and let you watch your food cook without lifting the lid
  • NOT for use on glass cook-tops
  • Oven safe up to 350°F
  • Heats up quickly and evenly

I got these a while ago and really wanted to break them in before reviewing.  I honestly cannot find a single flaw in these.  To those with dishwashers, there might be a flaw since you can't put them in the dishwasher, but since I don't have one...

The surfaces really are non-stick and washing is so easy.  Nothing sticks to these!  Those who know me know I loves me some Paula Deen.  The pots and pans heat quickly, even on medium heat.  The details actually recommend that you use medium to medium high heat, as those temperatures are better for the cookware.

I really do recommend this set.  They are infinitely better than my old set.  I don't ever have to use a cooking spray!  Make sure, though, to use plastic or wood utensils on your set as to not damage the non-stick coating!

I do want to thank the amazing people at CSN Stores for helping make this review happen.  I am very impressed with your site!

*A $50 gift certificate was given to me by CSN Stores, but in no way had any effect on my review.  My opinions are my own and not influenced by any outside source.  Thank you to CSN Stores for this opportunity.

Rubbermaid Reveal Mop Review

My Dear Friends,

I was sent a Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop to review by the lovely people at Rubbermaid. I'm a border-line clean freak, meaning sometimes I have to have things "just this way" and others, I let it fall by the wayside.  Sometimes I get that "itch" to just clean, you know?

Sometimes I actually want to clean....  One thing I do know is that I like a clean floor.  I have hardwood throughout my house so it's pretty easy to clean.

This mop is similar to the Swiffer Mop but with some great differences.  The cleaning pads are reusable, up to 100 washes each, and the solution is water!  You can also mix in a little of your favorite household cleaner if you'd like.  The Rubbermaid Reveal works on all kinds of flooring, be it tile, laminate, vinyl or hardwood.  The solution bottles come with the mop and are similar to water bottles.  Simply fill to the line with hot water, add a little cleaning solution if you want, pop it in the mop and you're ready to go!

The mop comes boxed into two pieces which just snap together easily.  Add one of the red microfiber pads to the bottom (it just sticks on!) and pop your solution bottle in.  Pull the spray trigger to dispense as much solution as you like & get mopping!

The solution bottles can be hand washed or placed in the dishwasher, while the cleaning pads can go right in the washing machine and be re-used!  Just make sure not to use bleach, as they will damage the pads.  Also, try not to use fabric softener sheets when you dry the pads, it will affect the microfiber.

I like this mop because of its wide cleaning area, and rotatable handle.  It's easy to get into corners and very easy to use.  Check out this diagram on the Rubbermaid Reveal Mop versus the Swiffer Mop:

Try mixing in one of these solutions into your water to make your own solution:
Borax, Vinegar, Baking Soda, Dish Soap...or use your favorite home cleaner!

You can buy your Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop here for only $29.99, which is a fantastic price considering how great this mop is and how much money you'll save not having to buy refill pads and solution!

Guess What?
The amazing people at Rubbermaid are going to give one lucky Fashion In The Forest reader their own Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop for FREE!

Blog Hops

My Dear Friends,

Don't forget to check out all the great blog hops for today by checking out my page, "BLOG HOPS"....there's a pretty good listing of great blog hops to try out!  I've signed up...have you? :)

No, I am not pointing at you.

My Dear Friends,

I had two people yesterday ask me that.  No, I'm not pointing at you, I swear.  I am pointing, yes, but it is to keep my finger elevated so that painful heartbeat-timed throb will decrease.  I feel like a baby whining about this but geez, it's quite painful.

I got my Fleur de Sel Caramels in the mail from The Caramel Jar yesterday.  They are already gone.  "Chubs McKenzie" came out and ate them all.  I can't help it, I was watching "True Blood" last night and was completely lost in the episode,  (amazing and completely hilarious by the way) that I didn't realize I'd eaten them all.  Besides, I am a complete sucker for sea salt caramels.  For reals.

Lane Bryant is offering an extra 50% off their clearance merchandise in what they like to call their "Summer Blowout Sale"!  Use code "050000159" at checkout to get the deal!  While you're there, check out Fashion Bug.  They have clearance at up to 80% off!

Take 20% off your purchase at Abercrombie & Fitch until 8/28/10!

This Wednesday (8/18), between 6- 7pm, Charlotte Russe is having their Happy Hour special on jewelry.  Only $2!

For a limited time, The Limited is currently offering 30% off your order! To get this discount online, use the coupon code "FANSONLY30" at checkout!

Some of you know that I am obsessed with Halloween.  I already have my fall wreaths and decorations ready to go up, but since it's 100 degrees outside, I'm undecided whether to put them up yet or not.  Honestly, they will probably go up this weekend....  Anyway, I think I'm going to start spotlighting Halloween-themed blogs that I like & read, so if you're like me, or at least enjoy Halloweentimes, you might be interested as well!  Today's spotlights are 365 Halloween ("for anyone who wishes that Halloween was longer than just one short day.") & Halloween Express (costumes, drinks, articles, etc.)

16 August 2010

Ouch.

My Dear Friends,

This is going to have to be a short post.  (Ew Alert - Do not read ahead on this paragraph if you cringe easily.) I ripped my pointer fingernail away from the skin on my right hand.  It hurts.  It throbs.  I can feel my pulse in my finger.  It bled for a little while and MANY choice words were uttered immediately following said event.  So now i'm typing slowly and surely and without the pointer finger in question.  Ouch.

So, how was everyone's weekend?  I got food poisoning from Ruby Tuesday.  Fun!  :P  The whole Saturday was great...until about 9, when we went to dinner.  Got sick, stayed sick through Sunday, and am feeling a little less than chipper this morning...but I'm better than I was yesterday, so that's a start!

The "Secret Clearance Sale" at both Delia*s & Alloy expire in two days, so get the goodies while you can!

13 August 2010

Finally Friday!

My Dear Friends,

What a long week this has been.  It's been around 103 every day here and it just zaps your energy.  I'm actually going to a water park tomorrow with one of my good friends, and hopefully we can have fun and not fall over from heat stroke.  I'll be drinking plenty of water all day to stay hydrated...but we might give up on the water park and go shopping instead...you never know with us.

So...it's Friday the 13th.  Awesome!  I actually enjoy spooky-type things such as this one....Want to know the history on how Friday the 13th came to be?  Click here, it's actually really interesting!
