Review: Glass Dharma

My Dear Friends,

I'm all about straws.  I've got a big jar in my kitchen full of plastic straws, curly straws, color change straws....but the bad thing about those is that either they're hard to clean or you throw them away after one use.  It can get expensive and who needs that nowadays?

I found a really cool solution - Glass Dharma.  David Leonhardt, the owner of Glass Dharma, is also a glass blower.  After realizing that you're basically throwing money in the trash when you toss a straw out, he decided to come up with a better solution.

Here are some stats about glass straws:

  • They don't release harmful toxins into your food (as straws in hot drinks are known to do).
  • Made with the strongest glass currently available & put through a special process that strengthens the straws even further!
  • Handmade in the United States.

I was given a few various sizes of their unique straws to review.  I received a normal size straw, a bent straw, a straw with dots and a small straw with dots.  The folks at Glass Dharma were even sweet enough to throw in a couple cleaning brushes!  These straws are beautiful pieces, with no cracks or bubbles to speak of!  Another thing that I completely love is that since the straws are thick enough so that those with sensitive teeth are not discomforted.  These straws are totally dishwasher safe too!

Glass Dharma straws range from $6.50 to $10.00 individually, or you can also buy a set for around $28 to $40.  The prices depend on the size and style of the straws.  These excellent straws are great if you're looking to change your life from disposable to reusable.  A straw is one small step that creates a spiraling thought process towards switching to other re-usables.  Every little bit makes a difference!

*I was provided with the items listed above in exchange for an honest review.  No monetary compensation was given and all opinions are my own.  Thank you, Glass Dharma!

These look so wonderful to me, like going back in time (to 1918 maybe?) when straws had to be glass.
